Digital Solution for Education in Africa

Outlook Extending beyond the scope of the COVID-19 pandemic, basic education and digitalisation will not lose their relevance for social participation. The new BMZ-commissioned programme GenerationDigital! builds on the success of the RESICODI Action and supports African partners in efforts to promote digital skills among children and youth. GenerationDigital! leverages the proven funding mechanism of the BACKUP Initiative to support innovative ideas in Africa proposed by partners from civil society or ministries. Moreover, the programme fosters regional exchange and knowledge transfer between stakeholders on digital education. “We would like to see every child having access to whether it’s a desktop or a laptop, to have access to e-content and to be able to be taught like any other child in any other country through online learning methods.” Zelda Mouton, Acting Deputy Director at the Namibian Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture For more information on the new project, please consult the GenerationDigital! webpage. 8.
